ISLA KAI has been below form of late, but an extended 1¼m was much too far for him last time, and he’s now 6lb lower than when a solid fourth over C&D in July.
His stable is also hitting form after a quiet spell, and this front runner is capable of bouncing back to form at an attractive price, particularly as two of his four wins have come on soft ground and he’s not been getting his toe in this season.
Nigel Tinkler has his team in good order for the time of year, and was a neck away from landing a 230/1 double with older handicappers at Pontefract on Monday.
The selection will attempt to dominate from stall 9, and while he’s not been getting home using the same tactics on faster ground, he won’t have to work so hard on this softer ground to dominate, and that should enable him to keep a bit for the finish.
