3:36 Exeter – Stormy Flight

Once again, the message to punters on Tuesday is to beware newspaper going descriptions, most of which derive from readings taken early on Sunday. With two days of drying weather since, I wouldn’t expect any soft to remain in the ground at Exeter in particular. The track on Haldon Hill is very exposed to the elements, and while that can mean driving rain causing heavy going in winter, it dries out pretty quick when the sun shines with any power, and will be good at worst in my view.

With that in mind, I’ve given the nap vote to Jeremy Scott’s STORMY FLIGHT in the Harcombe Handicap Hurdle. The Cloudings gelding was well backed when brought down at Wincanton in January, and has been placed on both starts since. He’s just 1lb higher than when winning at Uttoxeter a year ago, and as he did last season, he appears to be hitting form in time for spring. He’s been doing his best work late on his last two starts, and although dropping slightly in trip here, will be suited by the stiff finish at Exeter, having stayed on well to be runner-up over C&D on his previous visit to the track
