As mentioned previously, we’ve found the last week or two a bit like walking through treacle, and that’s been very trying, not just for subscribers, but for myself and David, who pour ourselves into this work on a daily basis, and I can assure you that we don’t take poor days lightly. Everything again came good yesterday, with Mukhadram and De Rigueur both winning in some style and taking the pressure off in no uncertain terms. Today’s racing brings new meaning to the world “dreadful”, though, and I’m recommending a near blank day.

Ayr:
4.00 – the drop back to 6f is a minor worry for Alan Swinbank’s Native Falls, who has shown improved form under forcing tactics at 7f the last twice, but it’s my belief that it’s the tactical change, rather than the longer trip, which has seen him take a step forward. The speed figures he’s put up in winning at Redcar and finishing second at Newcastle are solid in the contest of this race, and he’s the only one in the line-up to make the running on his latest outing, which offers hope that he can gain an uncontested lead again. If he does manage to get to the front without being pestered, his proven stamina will make him hard to pass.
