3:15 Catterick – The Wrekin

Another contest with a good pace almost assured, and we both think THE WREKIN might be the one to take advantage.

Anything of Henry Daly’s that wins early in their career is usually worth following, and that was the case when The Wrekin won on only his second hurdles start at Ludlow back in 2021. He quickly followed that up with two more wins in novice company and for his first handicap start was thrown in at the deep end, trying his luck in the Tote Silver Trophy at Chepstow later that year, where he performed with credit to finish midfield in a race that’s thrown up a whole host of good winners.

He again ran with credit when fifth at Cheltenham next time before disappointing over 3m on his final start of 2021.

He’s not been seen since then, which obviously raises a few questions, but has been dropped 8lb for standing in his box for over a year and does look very well handicapped if he’s ready to go after an absence.

Daly is an impressive 10-38 with his handicap hurdlers this season, and that’s reason enough to keep The Wrekin on side.
