Here’s today’s selection

Glory (2.40 Hex)

Intriguing race name of the day goes to the Happy Birthday The 3 Worst Tipster’s (sic) Handicap Hurdle, and I believe that GLORY can go very close after an encouraging return at Carlisle last weekend.

A maiden after 29 starts, it’s easy to see the negative side of Glory, but trainer Victor Thompson has his horses in decent fettle at present, with the last six runners all finishing in the first four despite some huge prices, and Glory in particular took the eye when finishing strongly into third on his first start since June.

Glory was placed on the Flat for Richard Hannon and twice hit the frame over hurdles for Tom McCourt before joining Thompson a year ago.

He was rated a rather harsh 105 for his debut for current connections, but has fallen to a workable mark of 84 now, and showed that he could win off that rating last time, when beaten 4½ lengths into third of 13 to Killane eight days ago. He should be ready to strike now, and the fact that he was so competitive despite racing wide throughout on the inner track at Carlisle is encouraging.

If he can be less profligate here, he looks to have strong claims, with that latest run backed up by a good time figure.
